The Olympics held in Atlanta and the new hockey and football teams in Charlotte have helped this. The South is truly "rebuilt" (but never reconstructed) since the War of Northern Aggression. Some of my favorite cities are Greenville, SC...Asheville, NC... and Chattanooga, TN.
